Online Pet Medication Requests-Hospital Policy Change
Bakerstown Animal Hospital will no longer accept faxed requests from any online Pet Pharmacy for medication.

Your pets’ safety and health are very important to us. This is why our office has decided to change our policy. We also ask that you support our local business. Please read the information below from the FDA. If you still wish to continue to order pet medication through an online Pet Pharmacy our office will provide a handwritten prescription. We can mail the prescription to you or you may pick it up at our office and then submit the prescription to an online Pet Pharmacy.

Internet sites that sell pet drugs may be reputable pharmacies. However, others are fronts for businesses breaking Federal, State, and sometimes, International laws. Illegal online pharmacies may sell medicines that are counterfeit, outdated, mislabeled, incorrectly formulated, or improperly made or stored. These medicines may not contain the actual drug, or the correct amount of drug, may contain contaminants, may not work as well due to age or being stored in conditions that were too hot, cold, or humid, and may not have the proper directions for use. If you are unhappy with ordered products, illegal online pharmacies may fraudulently leave you with no way to get your money back. In the end, you may find buying prescription pet medicines online costly to your pet’s health and your wallet. Pet owners who purchase drugs from these companies may think they are saving money, but in reality, they may be short-changing their pet's health and putting its life at risk.

Whenever your pet needs prescription medicines, your veterinarian is your best, most reliable source, because your veterinarian:

  • Physically examined your pet and knows your pet’s medical and treatment history
  • Knows which medicines are safest for your pet
  • Educates you about potential side effects associated with your pet’s medicines
  • Shows you how to properly use the medicines prescribed for your pet
  • Stores prescription medicines in the clinic according to label directions, and uses current, unexpired medicines

Appointments
The staff at Bakerstown Animal Hospital prides ourselves in accommodating our clients with the best possible service. We strive to keep our appointments running on schedule to minimize long wait times. We realize your time is important, arriving late for your appointment, not showing up and a last minute cancellation result in loss of valuable time and puts undo pressure on staff and is an inconvenience for other clients and their pets.

Please contact our office at least 24 hours in advance to cancel your appointment so we may accommodate another patient that may need to be seen.

If you repeatedly cancel, or fail to show up for your appointment a credit card will be required to hold your appointment. If you fail to arrive or cancel at the last minute your card will be charged a fee.
